Prayer Shawl

January 2017 marks the third anniversary of our Prayer Shawl Ministry.  We have continued to meet every second Monday from September to June in the Parish hall at Kingston.  Out of the 15 knitters, on average between 8 and 10 are able to meet regularly.  We enjoy an hour of sharing stories, patterns and helping each other out with knitting problems.

We are excited to report that we have completed a total of 51 shawls and lap blankets this year which represents a considerable increase from last year.  We have also branched out in what we are knitting and crocheting to include lap blankets and sleeved shawls to accommodate a wider variety of needs in the recipients.  This year we also decided to include a label sewn onto each shawl telling of its origin.  Once blessed, the shawls are given to those known to us personally or someone suggested to us.  Many shawls go to local nursing homes.  We would be happy to hear of anyone who might find comfort from a prayer shawl.  Please contact a member of the group or Sharon if you have a name of someone you would like to suggest.  We are always thrilled to welcome new members.  So long as you can knit or crochet, you can make a prayer shawl! If you feel you would like to support our group but are not able to knit, you may like to consider a donation of yarn.

Our group has been sponsoring a student from Bishop McAllister School and are happy to be able to continue this support.  We are also able to begin supporting a second student for the upcoming school year.
